Florence

A day in Florence for a change!

View from the super-fast Rome -Florence train!

The hotel in an old palazzo was great. Simone who greeted us and all the other receptionists were exceptionally kind and friendly. It was great to be shown a room with the painted ceiling:

The only thing I missed was a bit of milk to go with a hot beverage in the room.

The reception area deco made you think you have to 'tell the truth and only truth'.

Sculptures like this greet F9 hotel guests
We spent the whole afternoon, evening and half the night exploring the centre of Florence on foot.

Between The Duomo and Palaco Vecchio we listened to beautiful music at the church where Dante met Beatrice, pictures will follow one day.:-)

We ate beneath these trumpets served by a Moldavian girl

'Use only our cosmetics!'

Rainy Monday in Rome

It's cold and rainy, we need to alter the plan for the day!

What we did then? Equipped with a rainproof jacket and a huge hotel umbrella we went to St Peter's, walked over The Tiber to Piazza Navona and Pantheon visiting numerous places on the way.

Via Appia

I nearly lost one of my crutches getting onto the metro train today. it got stuck in the door and although I managed to pull it out, the rubber bottom part stayed aboard the train. What an experience! It wasn't very convenient to walk along Via Appia Antiqua with the faulty crutch, as it would get stuck among the ancient stones paving the imperial Roman road.
