Believe me, it's fantastic to walk between the two places provided the water is not to high.

Kew
Original Maids of Honour Tea Rooms in Kew were absolutely packed with people and there was a growing queue keen to get in. A perfect Sunday the Londoners enjoy, as described by George Mikes decades ago in "How to Be an Alien".
Let me submit an appropriate quotation:
'At weekends, an Englishman queues up at the bus-stop, travels
out to Richmond, queues up for a boat, then queues up for tea,
then queues up for ice cream, then queues up some more because
it is fun, then queues up at the bus-stop when he wants to go
home. He has a very good time.'
Well, something has changed. Instead of queuing for a bus, now people in the UK have the fun of their lives queuing in their cars. The roads are packed, the traffic is exasperatingly slow and finding a place to park is a nightmare. When we finally found somewhere to park near the river, to enjoy the stroll, my friend got so stressed out by the possibility of finding his car clamped on the return, he dashed back to the car as soon as we got the the bank (river bank, mind you!). I stayed to stroll alone. Alone... Can you be alone within the M25 ring? Not really! Maybe at 2 pm, unless it's the weekend. You can feel lonely, but not really alone...
We stopped for longer near The Pond in Kew and walked to see the restored grave of the famous 18th century painter: Thomas Gainsborough by St Anne's Church founded by the queen whose name actually was Anne, Queen Anne of Denmark.
