Exploring inland Crete

After a week in one place and a long  morning swim in the sea we went on a trip to explore inland Crete'. The wind and the waves were rather strong so we made a good use of a rented car. The  route recommended by the restaurant owner proved truly exciting, varied and breathtakingly beautiful. We moved along zigzag roads climbing up, down and along the slopes. For a long time the sea was in sight.

Crete - my new fascination

New week on Crete has began. I witnessed it rather early as woke up when the people I came here with to experience the amazing were leaving at 3 am.  Yes. For me all that happened in the week was unique and special. Too early to talk about it here and now and also much more fun to e having. I learned a lot and have a lot more to learn still.
After a week without writing here I am gladly coming back. Gradually you will be able to see and read more should you wish so.

Good morning from Agios Pavlos

Hello! Will I ever find the time to tell you about the amazing week in Agios Pavlos?

Big day has come!

Tomorrow is only just beginning and there is little sleep ahead of me tonight.

Passion, courage, potential

Waking up to a sunny day in my hometown is a good introduction to the day. Birds are singing in the background, lots of green outside gives joy to the eyes. Waiting at the dentist last night I had a chat with a man who missed his appointment slot by a few hours. He inspired me to listen to two  presentations by a Polish life coach, Jacek Walkiewicz on YOUTUBE. Leaving the place, he revealed that he was in my father's volleyball team and went to the school where my dad taught PE!
...
Beware, it is not unlikely that I will not be blogging for a week or so. However, there are hundreds of my old posts here for you, Dear Reader to browse through. Let's savour what life has to offer!
...
You may know about my project of Cultural Cooperation with Skarzysko Town Cutural Centre! Today I had a pleasure to meet the centre manager again and we discussed the details of the first visit pending next month!
It wasn't easy to get into the centre as the 90th anniversary of the most important employer in the region of many decades: MESKO, the Metal Works. Once I got there, under the protective wings of Mr Krzysztof Szczygiel, I made a good use of the visit. Wish I could tell you more here and now...

I'll let the pictures speak:

To my surprise, I was allowed to see the photographic exhibition documenting the history of Skarzysko Metal Works:

Having little time to closely examine the pictures, I took  many pictures of the pictures myself so I could get back to them, and surely, to share them with you, Dear Readers. Of the few people I recognised in the newer photographs was my former neighbour. Actually, I caught sight of him outside the Cultural Centre as I was locking my bike.

And Mesko in Photography was the second exhibition I saw at the MCK this evening. The first one was moved upstairs to make space for MESKO celebrations. It travelled all the way from a Krakow museum:

To my pleasant surprise I met a young woman who for a short while was a student of mine in the bygone years. She works at MCK now! Here is the studio where she runs different art projects:

Before it got dark, i could enjoy the view from the 9th floor of a nearby block of flats:

Back to the seventies

Today I walked through the streets away from the centre of Lodz before I took a coach to Skarzysko-Kamienna. It looked like the time froze a few decades ago because of the way everything looked. The blocks of flats, pavements, little shops, overgrown grass, trees and shrubs and also the people looked like I remembered from the days when I would come to stay with my relations in the late 1970s.
After a bit of a walk we found a hairdresser and my offspring sat in the chair while I began to wait for my turn believing that I was next. No! After a while and taking two pictures, I found out that the ladies's hair experts operated one door down.  Hence, I waited while the other young hairdresser was finishing off the freshly dyed blonde mane, making it very straight as the fashion of the recent years dictates!

From Stansted to Lodz!

Today I will say 'Good night!' in my home country.
...
And so I did. After a spell of panic when paying for something at an airport duty free shop I thought I'd lost my boarding pass and a subsequent relief when found it in the plastic bag with liquids, while it should be in the purse, I had an undisturbed journey.
Intrigued by a logo World Dance Championship on young people's red tracksuit tops, I asked two pretty girls about it and learnt that their group, representing England, was going to Pula in Croatia! How fantastic! I still remember a holiday there with my parents. The sun was shining on both departure and arrival of Mr Ryan's aircraft and the crew were most polite and helpful which made a real difference.
