Chopin's music and a story of his relationship with George Sand filled my evening. Stuck in the snail-speed traffic in Hammersmith on the way we had little hope to make it on time. Luckily, the other side of the river was less busy and we even had the time to have some food at the Old Sorting Office cafe in Barnes, just by the pond with two swans visible in the dark. Do swans sleep floating on the water?
The performance started with a short delay which allowed me to consume a bowl of soup. My less fortunate friend had to wait longer for the panini and ended up eating it discreetly to the tunes of Mazurkas. Raicing against time, I attacked my soup immediately and finished it before the panini was ready. We must have challenged the two barmen/baristas seriously with our orders, as they didn't manage to produce one black and one white coffee. Both arrived served with milk, but we won't hold it against them.;-) Anyway, the music was great, the story interesting and there was really nice rose wine available during the interval. Picture taking didn't happen as the phone battery had gone to sleep.
