Waking up on Crete I'd go to the balcony and enjoy this view every single day last week. Not bad, isn't it? There are plenty of holiday destinations, but there is something special about this secluded location that makes me want to return there. It's the beauty of the place and the people that attracts me. This year I had no time for a long chat with the resort owner as he was even more busy with work than last year. However, I still remember the stories and legends he told me about his chosen place to live and work, its distant and recent history, and of the island... Is there time to tell them to you?

Back from Crete and busy

Back home in London after an amazing and enriching fortnight I don't know when I will find the time to post here. Today I encourage youto look up the link on Crete I find quite informative. However, I still don't know if the patron saint of the tiny church on the edge of the Preveli Beach is St Savvos, as the local waiter had told me this and last year, St John or St Nicholas, as the Internet users claim...

Having consulted the Preveli Monastery website, I'm dashing to inform you that the Preveli Beach chapel bears the name of Agios Savas spelled with one 'v'.

Rydno Picnic at Lyzwy!

After meeting some local students of different ages we headed for the Archeo-Picnic at Rydno Paleolithic Settlement in Lyzwy, on the outskirts of Skarzysko. It was great fun and you still have two days to go there!

Dinosaurs and clay

Another great day in Poland and a pleasant short trip to see the dinosaur footprints in the forest between Skarzysko and Konskie and to visit an old pottery maker in Redocin! The footprints were found in the area where  clay was dug in the past. No time to add pictures or to tell you about an interesting museum in Radom where these days you can see Mloda Polska. Kobieta exhibition!

Hitchhikers

We met a young pair at the services towards Dover. They were hitchhiking to Dover and then to Paris and Barcelona. We couldn't give them a lift but someone else did as they were gone when we came back to the car.
