Arty us and others

A Polish shop in East Sheen has the front windows decorated by a Polish woman artist.

The butcher nearby always makes his shop attractive. It's already prepared for Burns Night:

When I recently talked to my students, one mentioned St Patrick's Day which he associated with lots of drinking. Well, we can look at it that way...

Maria Teresa's unique handbags!

It was January the 19th, my late father's name-day. I went for a stroll in Knightsbridge at lunchtime and took a picture of these flowers thinking of him:

Popped in to Bonhams but there wasn't much to see. I liked this picture by a contemporary British artist:

On the way back I saw a German church:

I looked at the dome of Brompton Oratory from another angle with The V&A peering from behind it as if shouting: 'Look at me!'

I registered some architectural details:

Going back to work I took a picture of the famous landmarks:

As the working day was coming to an end, I met an amazing woman who bought a beautiful white kimono. She was wearing an elaborate Nepalese necklace, a gift from a friend, as she told me:

Maria Teresa Madariaga came to London to make arrangements for the summer when she will be showing the bags she makes in the Carribean where she lives. That's the one she carried yesterday:

How neat is that?

Arty Folkestone

Photo Photo

David and Robin I met at the same gallery I was greeted by Charles Newington last month in The Old High Street of Folkestone.

David's exhibition opens at The Bankside Gallery next to Tate Modern next week!
...
There was a new exhibition at The Grand. Enjoying some nice tea after an energetic walk along the seafront returning from the Sandgate fish and chips place, we could look at some pictures:

Isn't The Grand splendid and grand?

And it has wonderful staff. I've met: Rita, the waitress, Joseph and Thomas at the reception, and Constance who comes to play the piano!

Leybourne Animal Centre discovered by chance

Photo The sea looked calm, but it was beginning to rain as we were leaving at lunchtime. I wanted a short walk in the fresh seaside air before getting into the car, but the nearby Tandori restaurant successfully saturated the air with its fragrances: a Sunday lunch in the air....

As we motorway was taking us deeper and deeper into the countryside, the weather was gradually improving and we could enjoy more and more of the blue sky. Even the Sun showed His face lowering towards the horizon.

Teddy was getting excited, lloking forward to a nice break:

Tired of being in the car< i agreed with Teddy and suggested getting off the motorway and stopping for a ten-minute stroll in the fresh air before the sun went down. And so we did without delaying. That's how we found ourselves at an Animal Rescue Centre off the M20. This is where I saw a cat road sign for the first time:

This is the centre:

And some residents:

Apart from many cats we saw a young dog, many rabbits and other smaller animals.
There was a wooden dog for sale at the entrance:

On departure we saw another unusual sign:

Isn't every day of life worth living with all its little and big surprises?
