It's a bit cloudy today, but no water coming from the sky, plenty of it in the sea as one should expect.

This Friday in Folkestone turned out to be one of our best days in this town.
First, we entered the Town Hall exhibition space and were captivated by the works on display:
'Free Art Exhibition at the Town Hall
Exhibiting the Work of John Eveleigh
11th April - 7th May, Mon-Fri 10-4 including Saturday 12th April, 26th April & 3rd May'
We had to come back for the official opening in the evening to find out more about the man who painted or drew all these pictures. We already learnt that John Eveleigh lived in Folkestone, but had studied art at The Slade School of Fine Art in London, lived in Australia and visited Scotland and Vienna!
...
The opening was a great event. I met many interesting people including Nicholas in his tailored Liberty waistcoat:

Several speeches were made. John Eveleigh emerged from them as an artist, a teacher and an initiator.
The artist and his family:
Rebecca had to remind us all to let her finish work so she could join the family for the well deserved weekend:
Bravo to the artist and all the people who organised this wonderful evening!

Do you think it was the end of an evening for us? No way! Not in Folkestone on a Friday night!
We walked up the road to the place called Googies Art Cafe at 15 Rendezvous Street! It was a DJ night. We had to try their Kentish Gypsy tart while enjoying the music and the arty walls. My favourite pieces were by one of the staff. He was off that night, but look at a chunk of his works:
Promptly at 11 pm I think, the DJ turned off his music boxes and, having finished the English-cake 'sweetestly-sweet' cake, we went up Rendezvous Street again. We kept going, crossed the traffic lights and soon encountered another busy venue. There was live music at The Chambers! It turned out that every second Friday of the month you can come to Chambers and have your 'five minutes' on stage! Well, I wouldn't dare... The people we saw were really good.
What a great day this April Friday was!
