'Boat'? It means 'lodz' in Polish and is the name of the third largest city in Poland! The sun is hiding behind some clouds here today. Yesterday I got caught in the rain, but survived the experience. However, I left behind a borrowed umbrella. It was kindly put aside by the little corner shop owners and today I picked it up. Mind you, I left it at another shop very soon. I realised that almost immediately as it started to rain just for a few minutes as if nature wanted to remind me about the umbrella.
Then I met a woman who has been a bus driver for a few years, here, in Lodz. She had many funny stories to tell related to her job. One was about an old woman who reacted very angrily to a female driver and all through the journey kept yelling her opinion that a woman's place was in the kitchen and so on. She was waving her stick which added emphasis to her words. The passengers she could see didn't dare laugh, the ones beyond her ears and stick's reach, laughed discreetly so as not to provoke the furious woman. When she was about to get off the bus, she came up to the driver and demanded that the bus be parked as near the pavement as possible. The driver said she made a great effort to achieve that and it felt like at a driving test. This convinced the fussy old lady that women make very good drivers!
