Another proof of the whimsicality of life

The last day of the shortest month brought me a surprise visit from a dear long-time-no-seen friend. Most enjoyable! If the things had gone according to plan, we wouldn't have met as I would have been paying the first visit to another friend.

Yesterday I had an opportunity to look at a very special volume which made a present for their offspring. That person made the effort to assemble many beautiful Christmas magazine issues from the beginning of the twentieth century and made it into a book. A pleasure for the eyes! Most of the magazines are the English ones, some are Scandinavian, most likely from Norway. Now, when you look through the pictures below you can use your own judgement to determine which ones are English and which are from the land of the Vikings:

What do I have to do with the 'Celtyckie Panie' Celtic Ladies?  In the 1990s my interest in the English language and the culture and history of the lands where it is spoken brought me to The Towarzystwo Polsko-Celtyckie (The Polish-Celtic Association) that operated in Krakow headed by Tadeusz Kantor with Piotr Grzęda-Wadwik as the deputy chairman.  So many fascinating friendship I made there. Quite a few projects did we do together. It was fantastic!

Before I forget! Theatre fans prick up your ears (or cock an ear, if you prefer)! David Hovatter with his troupe has another production up the pipeline. He reached for a lesser known piece by Charles Dickens this time. Here you can see the book held by David himself when he was telling me about it:

Listen! Last week I saw David and it seemed he had nothing on the agenda for mid-March.

However, it turned out that a performance scheduled at the Questors was not making it to the stage and the opportunity has arisen!

A friend recommended yet another film I shan't probably find the time to watch: 'When Did You Last See Your Father?' and it prompted my memories of a famous Victorian painting: 'And When Did You Last See Your Father?'.
