Last night we came back from charming Broadstairs too late to turn the machine on. The Isle of Thanet little jewel (don't you love these tourist brochure language greeted us with sunset sun and chased out with torrential rain which stopped as suddenly as it started depriving us of a leisurely stroll back to the car along the seafront, but allowing a walk along the High Street and shopping at The Co-op shop, nicely supplied and 'manned' by a very pleasant young girl who shares her time between work and studies.
That was a memorable day for a number of reasons. We lunched at a pleasant South Ken pub with equestrian Napoleon portrait decorating the wall which strikingly resembled the portrait I saw in a Lodz junk shop two days before:
The exquisite evening meal was consumed at a seafront Broadstairs pub restaurant; preceeded by a walk along the shore and a pint downstairs.
