That was incredible! My mother, who is an early bird, was doing her exercises by the window this morning. Suddenly, she saw a young deer jump over the road barrier and dash across a (fortunately empty) road into the street. The lost creature was clearly in a state of panic and disorientation. He (Mom noticed the little antlers) stopped momentarily, then run along the side street and vanished from sight. Soon after, he appeared again from behind another building and run for his life again at the sight of a madly excited German shepherd desperately keen to chase the unexpectedly emerged pray, but held firmly on the lead by its owner!
I'd like to think that the forest dweller somehow found the way to its habitat.
Six or so years ago another deer occurrence made the headlines at Christmas. One morning, at this busy time, the planes were diverted from the local airport, because there was a deer walking along the runway. How it got there, no knowing...
