Walpole Park before excavations

I read somewhere recently that some archaeological excavations are planned for the coming months under the little ornamental bridge designed by Sir John Soane in Walpole Park near Ealing Green. They are going to try and find the remains of an older bridge underneath to get a better understanding of the area past. What is interesting, volunteers may join in the 'digging'! Hence, as it was nice and sunny, joined by a friend, I took a Sunday after-lunch stroll to see the place before all the works start.
Doesn't look very wintery!
Despite agreeable weather, few people chose to visit the park. The same could not be said about the shops...

Santa has come into town!:-)
