Friday - frosty on the edge of the Holy Cross Mountains!

Foggy it was in the morning, then frosty and crisp, but sunny; that's the weather was like till the afternoon, when the fog returned. The sunshine made my hometown look quite pretty, as it usually does! It was good to take a stroll and look around.

Old, often wooden houses like these have been gradually replaced with the new multifamily developments as shown below. I think they had much more character and it would be nice to save a few of them.

The town is picturesquely  surrounded by forests and if you walk up this street, you will soon get to the forest, same if you went right, but it would be more uphill.

We turned left though and soon were in the district of Milica which used to be one of the villages that were put together to create the town in the 1920s, after Poland regained independence.

Hidden underground in Milica are two cold war air raid shelters that it might be possible to visit if one was really determined to.

The 1950s blocks of flats are receiving a revamp which makes them desirable dwellings, superior to the ugly ones from the 1970s or 80s.

A replacement fountain, dormant in the winter:

The Ancient Greece or Rome inspired structure around the fountain reminds me of a feature in the seaside town of Folkestone as captured in the picture from a lovely walk a month or two ago.

:

General Władysław Sikorski is facing the street that bears the name of this eminent Polish military and political leader.

I was indoors for some forty minutes and during that time the weather changed.

Admiring fog through the window on the top floor:

Have you ever seen a clock like this? For years it showed the time as any other clock does, but then people who lived in the flat went away and the clock stayed there alone, like all the other objects. But this clock couldn't stand loneliness and developed his own mechanism of coping with the feelings of abandonment and uselessness. It created its own world, where the times is his companion and the two of them, the clock and the time, care-freely play together changing the time as they wish!

Now the elephant got interested in the game.

It's very late, time to sleep! Good night! :-)
